Provence Bike Tour

Ventoux

Provence offers the ideal vacation for every level rider.

On our Provence, France Bike Tour you will climb & conquer Mt. Ventoux, a 5280 ft. ascent or choose the undulating terrain around the base of the mountain.

Ride with us across textured landscapes, under cypress trees & through lavender fields as we circumnavigate Mt. Ventoux during the week.

About this tour…

Provence is a Classic,   Signature – Jemison Cycling Tours  trip and one you are sure to remember.

Provence brings out a sense of adventure on the bike and offers world-class cycling. Riding on unknown roads will take us past local farmhouses, over old stone bridges to tiny village cafes. Coffee stops are mandatory and a rich part of cycling culture.

Options are a must, as we believe that each of our guests has goals and desires for their cycling vacation.

Some of our guests come to Provence to challenge themselves & climb Mt. Ventoux, while others join us to ride through the beautiful countryside.

This trip starts and stops at the Avignon TGV train station, in Avignon, France.

Dates:
June – September – October

Dining and Wines in Provence

Fine Dining on luxury cycling trip

The culinary aspect of this cycling trip is a highlight, because it offers an excellent combination of food and wine.

We start the trip dining, in converted Benadictine priory that is now a luxury B&B, at the base of Mt Ventoux.

Our host Philip is a wine expert, leading private wine tours to some of the most unique vineyards in the Rhone Valley.

Jude can be found collecting ingredients for your evening meal at the local market, picking herbs and pulling fresh fruit & figs off the surrounding trees. Her meals are simple, and something you’ll savor for a lifetime.

Tour  Accommodations

Malaucene:  Full of a rich history, this lovely, 12th century stone “moastery” was once a Benadictine priory, then a farmhouse, & later, was home to one of France’s most celebrated novelist, Marie Cardinal.

Sault:  This lovely hostellerie in the city center, has breathtaking views of Mount Ventoux. The chef will create his favorite Provencal menu for you each evening.

Gordes:  Once a classic, Provencal house, this property is situated in the heart of the Luberon and in the center of Gordes. Enjoy a ‘panache’ by the pool after riding on the race route of the Tour de France or do a shorter ride to a nearby village for coffee.

WHAT LEVEL RIDER DO I NEED TO BE?

We ride on the quiet, less traveled roads of Provence.  This means that we ride over hilly terrain and offer the 25km climb of Mt Ventoux as a challenge for you. Our trips are for “lifestyle” cyclists that love to ride. 40-60 miles per day average.

IS THIS A GOOD TRIP FOR A NON-RIDER?

If your companion rides only a small amount we offer shorter rides. This is a very good trip for non-riders.  Hikes are plentiful, daily markets, and walks through the vineyards are all options each day.

Cooking classes are available and guided tours can be found in nearby Avignon.  Two of our hotels have pools and upon request we’ll arrange for a local masseus.
