About this tour

The classic climbs of our French Alps bike tour are legendary for creating cycling heroes. Merely reading the names of these famed climbs typically invokes a sense of awe in cyclists.

And imagine the accomplishment and pride you’ll feel standing atop their summits, not to mention lifelong “bragging rights”.

The second part of the trip we’ll be on breathtaking Lake Annecy, the perfect location for climbing even more mountains.

Either way, the experience will be one you’ll remember the rest of your life.

Dining Options

An intake of daily calories are especially important on this trip, but we prefer you do it in style.

We begin our trip dining at restaurant in a chateau, where we invite you to taste the finest, French cuisine and sample the best wines of the region. The following evenings, we’ll enjoy local meals of fresh meats and vegetables, as well as some of the best desserts imaginable.

And, this wouldn’t be a trip to the Alps without the famed tartiflette.

By day, we’ll offer snacks, some picnics and plenty of fruit. In the morning, we make sure you have enough fuel for the day, with more American sized breakfast portions.

Tour  Accommodations

Chateau de : This is one of our favorite hotels, a small 20 room chateau, restored, but still leaving the charm and history of it’s past. Spa services are available as well as a swimming pool with one of the best views in France.

Croix de Fer: We use two different hotels, one is at the base of the Croix de Fer and the other is two-thirds of the way up the climb in Saint-Sorlin-d’Arves.

Annecy: Excellent staff, perfect location and spotlessly clean rooms are waiting for you at our hotel in Annecy. The staff has the answer to every question and Lake Annecy is only a 3 minute walk away.

WHAT LEVEL RIDER DO I NEED TO BE?

If you love to climb, then the French Alps bike tour is the trip for you.  We’re climbing every day, tackling the best and most famous climbs of the Alps.  The daily ride average is 50-60 miles, with some longer days.  You don’t need to be fast, but you do need to be fit for this trip.

IS THIS A GOOD TRIP FOR A NON-RIDER?

If your companion rides, but isn’t as avid a cyclist as you, we offer some shorter ride days.  There is also plenty of hiking and phenomenal scenery.  We spend a few days in heart of Annecy so shopping, daily markets, swimming, boating and more are available just outside the door.
